Traditionally, papermakers have positioned the “dry-line” to
obtain the proper drainage on the wire. However, larger paper
machines, elevated wires, steamy forming sections, and remote
control room locations make dry-line monitoring difficult for
operators. As top wires and additional fourdriniers are added
the dry-lines can disappear altogether.
The 104TC Fixed Point Gamma
System when coupled with a 104 Sensor affords a simple and
realistic means to monitor and control the basis weight or
consistency of the sheet at many locations in the forming
section. One or more sensors can be mounted before and/or after
top wires, dandy rolls, multi-ply sheets, and gap formers
depending on various paper machine configurations. |

Not
everyone can afford a high-end multiple scanner system to
measure and control coat weight. That's where NDC's 5200TC
product measurement and control system might be just the right
solution.
The 5200TC System provides
continuous, on-line measurement, using one to four fixed-point
gauges. The 5200 software can compute up to three nets, making
it ideal for coat weight measurement when a scanning system is
unnecessary or too costly. A wide range of measurement sensors
is supported, the most commonly used being the gamma backscatter
sensor (GBS) and the IG710 near-infrared sensor. |

Pro.Net™ is an on-line web
measurement and control system designed to provide complete
product measurement and control capabilities for even the most
complex process lines. Based on “mission critical” real-time
electronics and open industry standard computer workstation and
networking technology, this new system architecture combines
state-of-the-art sensor technology with truly open industry
standard hardware, software and networking capabilities.
The Pro.Net system allows
control of up to six synchronized scanning frames and up to 18
sensors on a single process line. Displays are fully
configurable (with security features) and include 3D profile
contour plots as well as more traditional profile and inline
displays. A fully configurable touchscreen interface ensures
ease-of-use and maximum flexibility.
NDC's Pro.Net system employs
several advanced computer technologies to benefit users
including the Windows NT operating system family, TCP/IP
networking and the JAVA programming language. Pro.Net enables
users to set-up and troubleshoot remotely, and view multiple
process lines from a centralized workstation. Pro.Net includes
an industrialized computer sub-system and uses industry-standard
hardware. |

The NDC Model 8000 is a moderately
priced scanning system that can control one to four synchronized
scanners, and/or one to eight single-point sensors. The 8000 is
a full-featured product measurement and control system designed
to handle all but the most complex web production processes.
Based on a “mission critical” industrial PLC-style computer with
no hard drive or other moving parts, the 8000 provides
bullet-proof reliability combined with a full range of PC
connectivity tools.
All functions, settings, and
controls are implemented through a large 17-inch, color LCD
touchscreen. Displays are available in other languages such as
French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Italian and Spanish, and it
is possible to switch from one language to another "on the fly".
