The
104PC at-line portable sensors are designed to assist the
papermaker to assess felt condition and optimize the drainage
and drying characteristics of the machine.
The 104PC-F is a small sensor
that is held against the underside of the wire to determine the
consistency of the sheet at various points along the forming
section of a paper machine without disrupting production. Basis
weight and consistency measurements can be used to optimize
essential wet-end performance characteristics.
The 104PC-D measures the sheet
exiting the press section and through the dryer sections. The
small, single sided sensor is held lightly against the sheet in
an open draw between the dryer cans to obtain a weight
measurement. This data and the bone-dry weight at the reel are
used to calculate the water in the sheet. |
Direct digital readout of basis
weight or consistency

Traditionally, papermakers have positioned the “dry-line” to
obtain the proper drainage on the wire. However, larger paper
machines, elevated wires, steamy forming sections, and remote
control room locations make dry-line monitoring difficult for
operators. As top wires and additional fourdriniers are added
the dry-lines can disappear altogether.
The 104TC Fixed Point Gamma
System when coupled with a 104 Sensor affords a simple and
realistic means to monitor and control the basis weight or
consistency of the sheet at many locations in the forming
section. One or more sensors can be mounted before and/or after
top wires, dandy rolls, multi-ply sheets, and gap formers
depending on various paper machine configurations. |
