 The SB-i786 is a small but extremely powerful, PC-compatible computer. It uses a CM-i786 module to implement most of the provided functions and also adds several important functions on-board. The rich set of features provided by the SB-i786 is customizable according to price / performance targets of the user's application. The feature set of SB-i786 exceeds those of typical seventh-generation Pentium-III based desktop computers.

The SB-i786 contains a PCI expansion connector which opens it to the wide range of standard peripheral cards. Furthermore, the SB-i786 contains a Card Bus controller and slots.  A PCMCIA card may be attached and secured in the slot, with no additional mechanical means. Off-the-shelf Card Bus modules can extend the system with capabilities such as a larger solid state disk, modem, and wireless LAN.
